Eternity Gate Close

Constructed at the same time as the Crinkle-Crankle Wall and forming the north gate termination.  The entrance and gate are semi-circular giving the impression of going backwards and nowhere.

Inside the gate, a circular construction was designed and built for butterfly pupa release (Colias Croceus).
The grand plan is to re-introduce Clouded Yellow butterflies to the area, a variety type plentiful during the Victorian period but moved south with climate change.

Approximately 2000 specimens are bred and released every year with the help of the Cambridge University Entomology Centre.  The warm and textured wall making the perfect resting and wingdrying surface. Look out for the bright yellow fast flying wonders.
